First electric PTO is up and running in New Zealand

Story

Banke ApS, a pioneer in electric power take-off (e-PTO) technology, set its sights on a new frontier: New Zealand. This ambitious journey began with a partnership with Access Specialties Ltd., a leading EWP (elevating work platform) truck provider. Access Specialties had a unique requirement – an e-PTO compatible with their low-voltage power supply and seamlessly integrated with their existing bucket truck control system. This marked the start of an exciting collaboration and a significant challenge for Banke.

Challenge

Adapting the standard CM36 e-PTO to New Zealand regulations and Access Specialties' specific needs presented unexpected hurdles. The low-voltage power supply necessitated the addition of a DC-DC converter, ensuring compatibility with the bucket truck's electrical system. Furthermore, software modifications were required for seamless communication between the e-PTO and the control system. This project demanded not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of the New Zealand market and its unique requirements.

Solutions

Despite the challenges, the Banke and Access Specialties teams rose to the occasion. The modified e-PTO arrived in New Zealand, and with some online assistance from Banke’s engineers, Access Specialties’ technicians swiftly installed it on their new bucket truck. The commissioning process was smooth, and the e-PTO was operational quickly. This successful installation marked a significant milestone for both companies.

For Banke, this project was more than just delivering a product; it was a valuable learning experience. The team gained invaluable insights into the New Zealand market and the specific needs of bucket truck operators. They improved their skills in adapting our technology to diverse requirements, solidifying our position as a flexible and innovative solution provider.

This collaboration wasn’t just a successful business venture but a proof of the power of innovation and collaboration. Banke’s e-PTO technology improves efficiency and performance and contributes to more sustainable work vehicles for New Zealand’s transportation industry.
